Mobile Esports is a free-play tournament platform for mobile gamers. Their highly engaged player base has the opportunity to compete in hundreds of tournaments for the chance to win real prizes.
Tournaments are running 24/7 across an ever-expanding roster of mobile games.
Design Challenges
Outdated Aesthetics: The app did not reflect its modern, exciting nature as a play-to-earn tournament platform.
Inconsistent Design Elements: There was a lack of uniformity in design, with similar elements and functions appearing differently throughout the app.
Suboptimal User Experience: Screen and information flows were not aligned with UX best practices, causing potential user friction.
Tight Deadline: The project required a swift turnaround to meet critical launch dates.
Solution
To refresh the app, I retained the primary purple color but enhanced it with vibrant tones and additional bright colors to create a lively visual experience.
I restructured the user flows from the ground up, ensuring seamless navigation and addressing user feedback to optimize in-screen flows without disrupting existing features.
A key strategy was the iterative delivery approach. By providing developers with segmented design updates almost daily, continuous progress and minimized downtime were ensured, facilitating a smooth development process.
I used prominent, large, striking purple CTAs to guide users through our desired flow while
reinforcing the brand identity.
Emojis played a key role as they are universally recognizable, high-quality design elements with research-based evidence of enhancing user experience and making the brand more likable.
I utilized a color hierarchy for similar information to ensure it stands out while maintaining a cohesive look.
I divided the content into compartments to create clear boundaries between different sections, helping users consume the information more easily.
